Beyoncé praised by fans after donating eye-watering amount to LA wildfire relief efforts

Beyoncé is being celebrated by fans after she donated an eye-watering sum to support LA wildfire relief efforts.

It’s now into the sixth day since 180,000 people were forced to evacuate Los Angeles as fast-moving wildfires have consumed thousands of acres of land across the county, and destroyed thousands of buildings and homes in its path.

At least 24 people have confirmed to have died as a result of the fires while and dozens more remain missing in what governor Gavin Newsom has declared as ‘one of the worst natural natural disasters in US history‘.

At the time of writing, there are three active fires in Palisades, Easton, and Hurst, and with more high speed winds forecast again, firefighters warn the situation is far from over.

Home to countless Hollywood celebs, many A-listers have been doing their bit for the tragedy.

Paris Hilton pledged $100,000 to an emergency fund, even after losing her own Malibu home to the flames, while Snoop Dogg turned his clothing store in Inglewood into a clothing donation point to those affected.

Now, the ‘Crazy in Love’ hitmaker from Texas has joined the efforts, having donated a whopping $2.5 million to the LA fires relief fund.

Beyonce and husband, Jay-Z, own multiple properties in LA, including an $88 million mansion in Bel Air and a $200 million ‘mega mansion’ in Malibu.

The singer’s charity, BeyGOOD, which started in 2013 to support people and programs through education, housing, health and disaster relief, announced on Tuesday morning that it had opened its own relief line to help families who have been affected by the fires.

The charity shared that the funds will go towards helping families in Altadena and Pasadena.

Its announcement on Instagram read: “Los Angeles we stand with you. BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5 million dollars.

“The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires. To show your support for the impacted families and to learn more about BeyGOOD’s mission, please visit https://beygood.org.”

Fans raced to Twitter to praise the 43-year-old star for her apparent ‘wonderful’ generosity as one wrote: ‘generous queen opening her bag’ while a second chimed she is a ‘real good person’.

A third penned: “Say what you want about Beyonce and [her] team, they’re doing amazing things that can save American lives.”

“Queen Bey making moves not just on stage but in real life too”, a fourth wrote, “2.5M to LA fire relief, this is what true impact looks like!”

Others said the pop star is ‘doing more than the government’ with $2.5m coming as a ‘lifeline to countless families’.

Another wrote on Instagram in an apparent dig at Mandy Moore: “And she didn’t go online begging fans for their money. She took it out her own pockets. Queen behaviour.”

Moore faced intense backlash last week after she shared a fundraiser to support her family members who had lost their home in the fires.

BeyGOOD’s website reveals the charity has supported countless causes in the last decade, including those affected by the catastrophic Haiti earthquake, the Flint Water Crisis, mental health support during the Covid pandemic and Florida hurricane relief.
